Abstracts of the 1st International Colloquium on Global Design and Marketing that held on The University of Lincoln are now available for download at ITDA. Design and marketing have been an important part of the life of businesses and consumers for as long as we can remember. Whether we talk about fast moving consumer goods, electronics and computers, big household items, well, just about any products, the issues of design and marketing are inseparable and integral for the success of these products. However, when it comes to research in relation to the interconnectedness of these two business concepts, the literature is scant. These two concepts have been treated separately due to the fact that they are embedded within different research foundations and origins. Design has been treated as either a creative venture or as an engineering outcome, and marketing is firmly rooted in organisational strategy and management. Occasionally, we serendipitously came across a paper that combines these two separate constructs into one cohesive narrative which shines some guiding light on this successful combination can be achieved.
